Moving right along

Well, kind of. I have told people at work that I am NEVER going to train for another big race. Do you know what they have the nerve to do? Laugh. Yes, Laugh.

I am slated to run 15 miles on Saturday. I have never run more than 13.1 at one time in my life. I know that at the end of 13.1 miles, I have never once said "Gee, I wish I had two more miles to run!" But I will attempt this on Saturday.

Prior to training for a half marathon though - I had never run more than 7 miles. So, maybe there is a way I can do this.

And here is the other thing: weight. I am LOATHE to write about it. But I know that running would be so much easier if I weighed 10 lbs. less. So I am doing a very sensible eating plan and losing a bit of weight. I lost 4.4 lbs. in the last month. I hope to lose another 4 or 5 this month.

I never want to be a thin woman. That is just not who I am. I have been thin in the past, and it requires that I don't eat much. I really like to cook and I really like to eat. AND I really don't want osteoporosis.

The irony? Like most "dieters" who have been dieting all their lives, I could write books on what to eat and how to eat it. It doesn't matter what I KNOW. And I swear to you, Dieting does not work as a permanent plan to keep weight off. The best solution I have ever found was running. But my weight inched up a bit last year and I need to lose it. And I will.

And now I am going to watch American Idol. Last year when my son was in Iraq, I started watching anything where the war wasn't likely to come up and AI definitely qualified! Well, I love that show. And I love little David Archuleta. Last night I actually picked up my phone and voted for him! I have never done that before. I was so freaked out that Michael Johns got eliminated last week. With all those bland blonde women left, I couldn't believe they got to stay and MJ had to leave! And I really can't believe I am blogging about American Idol!

Your friends know you too well! A word of advice. I know, I know. I usually don't offer advice, but humor me ;-) Do NOT worry about your pace on the 15 mile run. Just go the distance. Walk when necessary. You will be proud!

Congrats on the weight loss! It's all about balance!

Now that you are blogging about American Idol, I'm removing you from my blog roll!

OK. Just kidding {hugs}

Good luck on the 15-miler!

I have an 11-miler planned for Saturday. It will be the farthest I have run -- EVER!! LOL!!

Oh, and I hope you saw one of the bland blondes went home tonight. ;-)

Good luck with the 15 miler! The best thing about completing each long run is that it will give you so much confidence, so that when you're done with 15, you'll be like, "Hey, I could 16 or 17, it's just one or two more miles." Thus, the method that will enable you to complete the marathon.

LOL...oops...sorry.

Good luck with the 15 miler. You can do it, just like you once did with 7 miles.

American Idol...I'm the only person in America who has never watched it even once. I'm not looking to change that anytime soon either.

LOL I know what you mean Mary, I'm the same way with food. I LOVE to eat (and eat BAD foods LOL). It's either starve and be super thin or eat/run and have a little extra. I think option #2 beats out #1 any day. ;-)

YES!!!!!! That is exactly what I have been thinking! I don't want to be "thin" and I never will be! I want to just get a little bit more of this weight off. Great job with your loss so far!

I love David Archuleta from a mom-point-of-view.

With that out of the way...

I haven't blogged about it (yet) but adding swimming into my workout has resulted in weight loss and I like the weight loss. Enjoy yours as well!!

I've never ever ever ever ever run more than 13.1, so no advice on that from me. But I *do* think you should enjoy it. :)

You will make it through the 15 miles. Just keep telling yourself you can do it and dont go out too fast. Youll be surprised what your able to do when your feet hit the pavement. I continue to surprise myself on how far I can push myself. the important thing is to just listen to your body and youll make it through it
