You see that picture above? When I am running, that is what I think I look like - that is what I feel like. It lasts most all day. I feel youthful and energetic and happy. Now, I know my actual image is not exactly like that, but for a 55 year old woman, I am happy with it. (when my mother was my age, she weighed over 200 lbs., smoked 2 packs a day, had a full set of dentures, and was a year and a half away from death)
Now a few days after making the brilliant decision to stop running to give my body a break, I am dragging around like an actual old woman. My butt is killing me! It is NOT better! It is worse! I have taken a couple of bike rides, and that is it for exercise.
I am going to go on a little adventure this weekend. I don't know if I can round up anyone to go with me, but I will try. I am going to walk up the steep part of a nearby mountain, and then run after it levels off. It is a lovely, lovely trail and I think it will do me a world of good to get out and feel like an adventuress instead of a dilapidated old woman!
Your adventure sounds wonderful - if I was there I would love to come with you!
ReplyDeleteJust watched your You-Tube! Agree with everyone else, you look great and happy at that point, hard to believe you felt so bad - well done to your friend for giving you the boost!
And, there is no way you look your age - exercise definitely agrees with you. Hope your aches and pains go away soon. :-)
I think that's a great idea!! Your little adventure sounds wonderful and fun!!! Hope you start feeling better ;D
ReplyDeleteMy mother died at a relatively young age – 59 – and I know that my own quest for middle-aged fitness is related to her decided lack of self-care. Your mental image is the same as mine; I'm suddenly inspired to use my finish-line photo as my computer wallpaper. I'll have to put the grandchildren somewhere else! Heh.
ReplyDeleteJust take it easy and go slow!! I totally understand the need to keep moving! Walking fast will really help as well! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI certainly understand that feeling. Just getting through my one rest day each week can seem more challenging than the 6 days of cramming in workouts.
