So, I went to my new and wonderful gym (24 hour fitness) and tried running on the 'mill. I decided to walk/run, and then I decided to just walk. I can run 4 miles on the treadmill, but I knew I would never get the 8 miles I needed running.
I was able to do 8 miles in one hour, fifty minutes, and thirty-seconds. 13:48 per mile. It was a good workout. I am wondering if I should perhaps plan on WALKING the PFC RnR in Phoenix?
My days of LDR I think are over. It takes too big a toll. On my body. On my life.
I long to train for a triathlon. I long to get in the pool. I long to get on my bike, or even a spinning class if it is too icy and cold.
I know my blog has been an endless procession of complaints lately and I appreciate anyone who has read it. I think I shall go read your blogs now about your youth and training and fast races.
Hopefully there are TVs in your gym and you found something decent to watch. When I run long distances on the TM (I think my record in 10M) it is always so much better if I find something good on TV.
ReplyDeleteHuge kudos to you for doing 8 miles of any sort on the treadmill. I cannot make it past 3 miles on a treadmill before I practially lose my mind. And it's been yucky outside. So I've done pretty much a whole bunch of nothing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a little fire inside about triathlon. This year, when I was out with a knee injury, I learned that triathlon is fairly kind to the body and soul. I could swim, bike, walk and still feel good about my accomplishment.
Great job on getting in 8 miles on the treadmill! You could always run/walk the half marathon, though if you do decide to walk it, that's OK too. :)
ReplyDelete8 miles is a LONG way on a treadmill! Congrats on your endurance for it!
ReplyDeleteJust keep havin fun :-) I personally HATE being on the dreadmill for even an hour. Three miles is about my limit.
ReplyDeleteLOL on the last paragraph. That's what my blog is for - complaining so I won't have to complain to everyone around me.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, what's really important is being healthy and having fun. If keeping it to shorter distances does that, than go with it.
ReplyDelete8 miles on the TM? I've done 6 before and that was when there was a Steelers game on and I could keep interested in that.
ReplyDeleteGood going.
Actually, I had my iPod. My treadmill had CNN, and a bigger screen had "trading spouses" with closed captioning - for almost 2 hours, I was very entertained.... well as entertained as you can be on a treadmill... which I normally hate.
ReplyDeleteMy long run pace was 13 min/miles for a long time! I think that pace is awesome on the treadmill!! Great job!
ReplyDeletevent away! it's your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI cant do any kinda distance anything now (Im 39 and a half :)) so Ive hit the weights hard to jack up the metabolism.
