Something new to be anxious about...

As I looked through the pictures of the trail the half-marathon is on... I realized there were moose in a lot of the pictures.

What the hell do I do if I am running along and there is a moose ahead of me?  I will turn tail and run the other way.... I just know it.

My first thought was  - well, there will be lots of people around, keeping the wildlife from the trail... but then I remembered my last half-marathon.  I ran alone for most of it.  Alone, as in I couldn't even SEE anyone else.

I just hope there are enough people at this race so there will be fat people and old people so I won't be last and running alone.  Or I will be SCARED!

I think I would turn and run the other way too.

Take a picture!

I think Moose are only aggressive if it's mating season or if you antagonize them. It'll be past mating season, so just don't poke one and I bet you'll be fine.

maybe if you are really, really quiet the moose won't notice you. maybe the moose will push you to a PR.

I think it might be like it is when i see dogs or horses on my running trail. I stop and walk for a bit....wait for the animal to get out of the way.
shrug.

Bring your gun Mary! I"M KIDDING!! Just like everyone else had mentioned, as long as it's not mating season, you should be all good :-)

I concur, bring a gun...I have heard that moose is a very lean meat. As long as it is cool you can leave it on the side of the trail and field dress it after the race.
