Does raking leaves count as cross training?

I raked leaves this morning - that is a lot of work and I think it is my workout du jour.  Now I am making apple butter.  Making apple butter is a very long process.

I am very excited about P.F. Chang's and it has really energized my training.  I am, so far, uninjured, and I feel good.  I don't know why, but my pace per mile has decreased by approximately a minute.  Honestly, I don't know why - except that I am not in pain as I have been almost 100% of the time for the last 2 years.

Tomorrow I will run 6 miles again.  Next week I will try increasing it to 7 miles.  That will be over half a half.  Yay!

Yes it counts :-) Never have liked apple butter, another one of my childhood dislikes. I'd probably like it now though. I love apples.

I remember raking leaves back when I lived with my parents and that is most definitely a workout of its own, and if there is even a slight breeze, you end up working overtime.

Never had apple butter...is it sweet?

Crosstraining is crosstraining. Raking leaves sounds like upper body work to me.

The faster pace might be from the cooler temps. I read a study recently that the fastest marathon times are run between 40 and 50 degrees. Even above 50 degrees, performance begins to slow.

I'm new to your blog. Although not a runner, I do exercise 6 times/week with weights. I love upper body workouts, used to be a personal trainer, and in my fifties too. It's the best for me. Do you weight train too? Is the PF Chang's race related to the restaurant chain? I was surprised to see the name.
