Non fitness related advice?

I had a migraine for 4 days so I have not run. I am missing more runs than I am making, but I hope to get on track soon. I have got some serious family stuff going on and I am sure that is why I have had stomach aches and headaches... this too shall pass?

OK, so tonight I went to the Apple Store to look at new computers. I have a 6 year old Dell desktop, and I want a new laptop to use at home and to take to Alaska with me. I went online to Dell and starting putting together a laptop - and a $499. computer turned into a $1,500. computer without adding much of anything.

Well, hells bells, I thought - why not get a Mac if I am going to spend that much money?

So I went to the store tonight - and I managed to walk away without a computer. I am thinking about it. Hard.

Does anyone have an opinion on Macs? Can you use your garmie with a mac? Is it worth the money? Is it so terribly different from a PC that it is hard to use?

Thanks guys.

Hope your migraines go away and you get back on track soon.

I have been looking at a Mac too so I'm wondering what others have to say.

I believe they have Garmin software for the Mac. Check out the Garmin web site to make sure. My question to you would be what are you going to use your laptop for? If I had the answer to that question, then I think we could come up with a laptop for less than fifteen hundred dollars.

Macs are fine machines though. You can't go wrong buying one.

I'm not sure Mary but I have the Garmin Training Center disc sitting right in front of me and it says for Mac OSX and Microsoft Windows so I would assume yes :-)

I'm thinking about taking the plunge into Mac as well. I've heard that the ROI is worth the initial cost. And, I haven't heard many positive things about Windows Vista and only certain PCs include XP these days. I don't think the transition from PC to Mac would be too difficult...

Garmin training center does work on PC and Mac.

If I go to the Apple Store I think I'll walk away with one which is why I'm staying away...for now.

I haven't used a Mac in about 10 years so I can't help. I do recommend lots of coffee for that migraine though. :>D Hope you feel better soon!

I have no computer knowledge, sorry.

You shouldn't need to spend anywhere near $1500 for a new computer. Not unless you want or need to.

I'm with Wes...what do you want to use it for exactly? That can lead you to the right machine.
