Uh Oh...

I haven't posted anything for a while because I was hoping I would have good news soon.  So far, no good news.   This sciatic nerve thing has gotten worse, not better.  I am taking vicodin for pain, and still I am a squirming mess.

I had to cancel my first PT appointment because of a big deal at work.  So, I won't have PT until next Friday.  It is now 26 days until my race.  I changed my registration to a HALF marathon.  I just hope I can even do a half.

I ran 2 miles on Friday. I am going to run tomorrow.  I just can't stop running when I am this close to a race.  I feel like I have lost all my momentum.  I haven't run seriously since May 12.

Sorry to be such a whiner.  Here is a good thing to report:  This morning I took my granddaughters to a local park so that they could play.  Some fire fighters were walking around talking to kids and their peeps.  When they were talking with my granddaughters, they pointed at me and said "we talked to your mom."  Olivia was quick to say "That's my GRANDmother!"  And I said "Thank you!" to the fire fighter.   Thank you!  How nice.  That has never happened to me before.   She is probably the only BLIND fire fighter in the country, but I will take it as a complement anyway.

Enjoy your running all you healthy people!

I don't think that is a blind firefighter!! You are in great shape and a fashionista!!

I hope your nerve feels better soon!

Hope the siatic nerve thing resolves itself soon; but until then, don't worry about a loss of fitness. It's only been two weeks and your body doesn't forget all its training that quickly.

Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do when you have problems like that. You don't want to make it worse. I hope the PT helps.

I bet those firefighters made an honest mistake. You look too young to be a grandma!

Mary, have you seen a chiropractor?

I had a very similar problem with a pinched nerve (except it was either my L2 or L3) that made walking, much less running, excruciating. I finally broke down in Feb. 2007 and went to a chiropractor. My whole spine was way out of alignment, and it really affected everything. The chiro got things back in order, and I only go once a month now for "maintenance" adjustments. I tell you it has made all the difference in the world. Seriously. When I have pain starting up again (not very often now), I go to the chiro and it really helps.

OK, enough preaching. I hope you get some relief soon!

I told you that you could pass for 30 something a while back. I think that the half will be just fine for you to complete. Remember that you are there to have fun. Take care of your self.
