Recovery is fine

My left knee is all scabby now, I would love to post a picture, but it really is kind of gross - well, totally gross. My right knee turns out to be just bruised. I am fine, just still a little freaked out over the whole fall thing.

I did run on Tuesday morning and intend to run tomorrow.

So, for people who are not over the hill, how often do you fall when you run? I would imagine not very often.

And - it is now 100 days until my marathon. yikes.

I am considering registering for a half-marathon on May 18. It is the one I did for my first ever 1/2 mary last year. I think it might be good for my training. Whatcha all think?

If the half marathon fits into your training schedule, do it. Are you practicing your nutrition and hydration plan yet? It is NEVER to early to start. A wise coach said that if you are planning on running a 6 hour marathon, and you are doing a 1 hour training run, then you should practice the first hour of your nutrition plan. Just sayin...

I agree with Wes, if it fits into your plan then go for it! :-)

I think the half sounds like a great idea! I don't know if I have ever fallen when running (biking is different). But you have to keep in mind that everything is flat around here.

A half 4-6 weeks out from a marathon is usually a very good way to guage your fitness and get a faster-paced "workout" in leading into the marathon. The goal for it should be to run it at your anticipated marathon pace, not your half-marathon race pace. Remember, the real goal is the marathon.

Glad to hear that the wounds didn't do any more damage.

Keep it up!

Glad you're healing from the scrapes and bruises.

I've injured myself stepping funny (ie avoiding a fall) while training. It wasn't fun. I also slipped and fell coming into T1 at my first ever triathlon and split my chin open (plus other injuries). You're not alone!

I fell once too, so you're not alone. Glad to hear it was nothing serious and you are OK.

I'm always happy to hear from other running knitters. Thanks for your comment - and yes, we do rock! :)

The half sounds like a good plan to me...the timing seems about right. And the race experience is always good...especially as it comes to preparation, hydration, psyche.

Falls?? Yeah, it's happened a couple of times. You recover...glad you are too.
