Dreadmill

The intense heat (sorry to those in AZ, this isn't heat to you, but it is heat to me!) has made going to the gym sound a lot better. I actually hit the treadmill this morning for the first time in months! It is HARD running on that dang thing. I only ran 2 miles and it kicked my butt!

I found out why I was so delusional about my times on my nike+ ipod... it is indeed accurate on the treadmill. I just didn't realize that it wasn't accurate outside. So today, I will actually post my time

mile 1: 10:15
mile 2: 9:30

That is smokin' fast for this middle-age granny!

Tomorrow I ride my bike to work. The ride home should be challenging in the heat. But then I can think about how it would feel to ride 400+ miles through mountains in the heat next June!

I hate the treadmill, but that is interesting that the nike+ipod is accurate indoors but not outside, probably because your strides are more even on the treadmill.

Re: your previous post - if you can finish a 1/2 marathon, you can ride about 60 miles per day for a week - even at a 12mph pace that is only 5 hours of riding a day. Besides, I'd take any good excuse to buy a new bike...

I actually like the treamill especially in the heat. Cold weather does not usually bother me, but the humidity down here is a killer.

Good going on the 2nd mile

Nice run! The thing with the treadmill is it pretty much keeps your level of effort consistent! For HR training, that can be a good thing. If you are used to recouping your strength on downhills/changes of pace, it can take a little getting (re)used to :-)

Smokin' fast indeed!!!

I opted not to ride to work today when I saw that it was projected to be about 100deg on my trip home (GASP!). But I'm going for it tomorrow despite the heat...or at least that's the plan at the moment.

I am NOT running outside this afternoon in these temps and don't have the discipline to use the dreaded dreadmill. so I bow to you for getting on one!!
